Rakesh Patel, MD
Dr. Patel graduated with honors in premedical studies from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Indiana, and received his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He joined the UW Radiation Oncology faculty and led the Breast cancer clinical and research program until joining WRO in 2008. Dr Patel has a special interest in targeted radiation therapy with brachytherapy and radiosurgery. He has published over 50 manuscripts and meeting abstracts and has given 3D-HDR Brachytherapy presentations around the world. He was elected as the 2010 President of the American Brachytherapy Society and leads several patient and physician training initiatives. He serves as the Director of Breast Radiation Services at the new Center of Advanced Radiation Therapy and Cyberknife Radiosurgery Center at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View. He also practices at the WRO center in Pleasanton.
